The general idea of doing postmortem is nothing new. The concept of intentionally doing it frequentlyand capture lesson learned is good. However the mechanics on how to do this is too complicated
to be useful. The authors state the debrief meeting should not be longer than 1 hour. Yet I don't see
how everything on the list can be covered in 1 hour unless it is done superficially.

The Debrief Imperative Fighter Pilots and The Secret Tool That Is Transforming Businesses The World over eBook William M Duke James D Murphy Reviews
We started implementing the strategies outlined in this book in our business about 3 months ago and have seen impressive results. I can confidently say that it has been the single biggest meaningful change we have made in our organization to date. The book details how the military does it but the concepts can be applied anywhere, even at home. Sure, you don't have to follow it to a tee - it's your business, run it how you see fit. I just especially liked the ideas and framework it provided to realize meaningful change. In fact, I'm writing this review now because I recommended this book to another business colleague and couldn't believe that there weren't more reviews on it.
So in summary, it's a relatively short and straight-forward read for all of your employees. If you try to only implement a few of the strategies outlined you'll see a difference. Best lunch money I ever spent.
Ideas on process improvement efforts are not new. Basically a new name for what Dr Deming has already preached. But I congratulate the efforts to bring back the control and monitoring requirements of any process.
As a former fighter pilot, the lead author shares extraordinary insights into after action assessments, or debriefs. He provides the how and why clearly. The reader closes the book with clear ideas on how to use the tool and derive its benefits.
Great book
For those whose goal is to improve action process' understanding and practice, The Debrieg Imperative presents a way to do it.
"Time is the enemy" - its meaning clarify many things when dealing with preformance improvement.
"Plan - Brief - Execute - Debrief" have to be practiced to be understood and well implemented. One effect of it is that the Companies will change their performance improvement's culture, joining the top-down one to the bottom-up which comes from the Debriefing process.
Best book I read in 2017. Great book...great company...study this material and study afterburner.com...then use it. Incredible idea that can transform every part of your business.
Tacit knowledge is difficult to pass on, this system is a rock solid...simple way to do this effectively. Can't say enough great things about this concept and this company.
